(From Our Own Correspondent.) An enjoyable party was given by Mrs. Bickers when over 60 children made ineri-y with games to music by Mrs. Younger, senr., and Mrs. D. Younger, while Miss E. Ileayns entertained with songs. A pleasing feature of the afternoon was provided when Flora McDonald presented Mrs. Bickers with a posy, and Fay Sandbrook and Ngaire Shalders made a presentation to Mrs. Bickers on behalf of all tho children present. Afternoon tea was provided by a willing band of helpers. The first of a series of card evenings to be held fortnightly throughout the winter was held on Saturday evening, when there was a large crowd present. The prize-winners were: Ladies, Miss Vera Lalng 1, Mrs. Courtney (sealed): men, Mr. D. McGregor 1, Mr. W. P. Bickers. A competition conducted in aid of soldiers’ parcels was won by Mr. D. Bowater and Mrs. Simpson. Mi', and Mrs. W. E. Hills, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J. Hills and family, are holidaying at Tauranga as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. McGregor. Mrs. W. E. Baker has again had to enter hospital to undergo an operation and all will wish her .a speedy return to health. Mr. J. White Is a Wanganui visitor to Mr. A. E. Shalders.
