The last meeting of the W.C.T.U. with Mrs. Paterson as president took place on Thursday last. Although deeply sorry to lose Mrs. Paterson, the meeting pi-oceeded to give Mrs. Wilson a glad welcome to the presidency and shoulder sprays were pfe sented to Mrs. Paterson, Mrs. Wilson and the retiring treasurer, Mrs. Greaves. Mrs. Paterson gave a brief outline of the recent Palmerston North executive meeting, mentioning particularly the short moving piettve films available for display, in theatres. Miss Cody read an extract from reports by the British Ministry of Food. News of tempex-ance work from all countries was touched on and the British Research Council’s report says that “No vitamin C has been found in any English beers.”
