Returned Services Association
Mr. F. S. I-I. Bolton presided at the monthly meeting of the Pahiatua Returned Services’ Association. The president referred to the recent accidental death of a member, Mr. Charles Douglas, and those present stood In silence as a mark of respect. Following a discussion regarding servicemen’s plots at the cemetery, Mr. D. C. Pryor moved and Dr. Paterson seconded a motion that “this Association believes that all servicemen’s graves in the special plot at the Pahiatua cemetery:.should have uniform headstones and where they are interred elsewhere a special tablet engraved with their names should be erected in the servicemen's plot.” The motion was carried, and the secretary was asked to ascertain the names, of men interred. The Pahiatua Honorary Territorial Association wrote advising that, owing to only moderate support and also the illness of the secretary, the Association had decided to go into recess, and enclosed .£9 7s 3d, tha amount of their funds. The money is to be devoted to a purpose similar to that carried out after the last war by the Territorial Association. A letter of thanks is to be sent. Mr. D. C. Pryor is to act as treasurer in place of Mr. C, F. Carrad until the next annual meeting. Two new members and one associate member were accepted. It was decided to hold the annual general meeting on April 29.
