Received Tuesday, 9.50 p.m. WASHINGTON, March 20. A prediction that Congress would act to restrict wool imports from Australia was made by Mr. William Hill, a member of the House of Representatives' Agricultural Sub-committee investigating the wool situation. He said: “We now realise that our own industry is facing ruin. ’ ’ He added that at the hearing a war production official declared that wool had been assigned the lowest priority rating for import but sizeable amounts were still arriving in ships ■ /bach otherwise would return in ballast. “The War Production Board lacks power to restrict imports, ’ ’ Mr. Hill commented. “If the board lacks power it is up to Congress to halt imports, and I am sure wo will do so. ’ ’ The subcommittee also heard a report that tho United States wool reserve may reach 2,000,000,0001b5.
