Woodville Sailor Farewelled
As Seaman Robert Waugh entered the Ngawapurua Hall on Saturday night, ho was accorded hearty musical honours and again after supper when Mr. Gordon Isakson, on behalf of the Ngawapurua Patriotic Society and the people of the district, handed the young sailor a useful travelling set and wished him a safe trip and a speedy return. Mr. Isakson paid a tribute to Bob's parents who had been in tho district a long time, Mrs. Waugh being born in Woodville. He also mentioned another local man who had recently left —Corporal Colin Bcrkahn. There had not been time to arrange a function so a presentation had been made to him at his home; Music for the dance was by Mr. G. Herrick with extras by Mrs J. McPcak, Mr. H. Brooker and Mr. Braddick of Mangatainoka. Mr. Isakson was M.C. and the Patriotic ladies’ committee served supper to the very large crowd who attended to give Bob a real country send-off.
