Veterans’ Bowling
The Alanawatu Bowling Centre’s Veterans’ rink tournament was played on the Palmerston North green yester- | day, competitors from nine clubs taking ’ part. The green was very fast ana [drawing well. Kershaw (Manawatu) 15 v. j 11. Alexander (Hokowhitu) 7; J. G. Brown (Levin) 13 v. T. R. Hodder (Northern) 5; H. G. Davidson (Feilding) 10 v. W. J. Frew (Palmerston North) 9. Second round: Brown 12 v. Simpson •I; Hodder S v. Davidson 18; Kells 4 v. Korsliaw 12; Alexander 2 v. Kirk 11; Frew 10 v. Carston 9. Third round:. Kirk 11 v. Carston 8, Brown 35 v. Kershaw 8; Davidson 36 v. Kells 4; Alexander 14 v. Hodder 3; Simpson 14 v. Frew 5. Fourth round: Carston 11 v. Alexander 9; Davidson 30 v. Simpson 7; Kirk 11 v. Brown 13; Kershaw 20 v. Frew 4; Hodder 10 v. Kells 32. Davidson (Feilding) and Brown (Levin) each had four wins and played the final over 7 heads, Brown winning 7 —4. The rinks were:—Levin: F. H. Best, W. Lett, 11. Walker, J. 3). Brown (s); Feilding: A. Williamson, F. G. Saywell, W. Duncan and H. G. Davidson (s). The average ago of the veterans was 73. The visitors were welcomed by Air. J. A. Nash, president of the Centre.
