Manawatu Cooperative Building Society
RESULT OF APPROPRIATIONS A general meeting of shareholders of the Manawatu Cooperative Building Society took place last night. Mr. G. G. Priest, chairman of directors, presided. The secretary reported that over 500 shares were applied for in No. 9 Group, and.the board decided to start this group in March. The results of appropriations were as follows:—No. 4 Group, ballot, £700,.5t. Patrick’s Church, Palmerston North; No. 5 Group, ballot, £7OO, 11. J. Hughes, Levin; No. G Group, ballot, £4OO, Miss C. R. Welsh, Ilukanui, £IOO, Miss R. M. Wright, Taonui, £300; No. 7 Group, ballot, £SOO, Mrs. N. Hosio, Levin; No. 8 Group, ballot, £IOOO, R. S. Capill, Taihape, £SOO, Church of Christ, Palmerston North, £SOO. A meeting of the directors was also held when the following were present: Messrs. G. G. Priest (chairman), J. J. O'Shea, G. B. Cope, ’G. D. Pattle and W. E. Ward. A loan of £7OO was approved in No. 5 Group, and £SOO finally approved in No. 7 Group. The chairman , referred to the formation of new groups and said it was a pleasure to report to meetings the continued demand for shares, and shareholders were to be thanked for their cooperation in obtaining new shareholders. Messrs. W. L. Chambers and H. W. Butchers acted as scrutineers for the ballots. Newman Bros. (N. 1.) Ltd. desire to draw attention to the alteration in their Napier-Palmerston North Services as advertised in this issue. The alterations take effect as from March Ist, 1941.
