Russian Town

Ivrivoi-rog is on the Ingulets River, a tributary of the Dnieper, and had a population of over 30,000 before the war. The district is rich in mineral ores, and its iron ore contains an average of 62 to 67 per cent, of iron, and 9 per cent, of silica. In 1913 the uuines produced over 6.500,000 tons of ore, but in 1919 and 1920 they were not worked. They were reopened in the next year and the output has been so greatly increased that Kriroi-rog is now reported to be the biggest ironore centre in Russia. Copper ore, brown coal, graphite, and slate are also obtained. The town had before the war iron foundries and chemical works.
