U.S. Miners Return to Work on Increased Pay

Received Thursday, 10.10 p.m. WASHINGTON, Nov. 4. The United Mine Workers’ Association has instructed the striking coalminers to resume work at the earliest possible moment because a satisfactory agreement has Jjeen reached with the Fuel Administrator (Mr. Harold lekes). It is to be effective immediately, continuing through the periods of Governmental operation of the mines. The agreement grants the miners an increase of 150 cents daily but cuts lunchtime from 30 to 15 minutes.

The Herald-Tribune’s Washington correspondent says observers express the opinion that the War Labour Board will not approve of the contract, also that the mine operators will not siga.
