Heavy Blows Against Japs in China

Received Monday, 8.50 p.m. CHUNGKING, Sept. 19. Heavy aerial blows against Japanese ground and air forces in the Hankow area have thwarted any further Japanese attempt to invade the Tungting Lake area this year, said General Chen nault, commander of the U.S. Air Force. He added that American airmen in the first half of September, destroyed 40 enemy planes, probably destroyed 32, damaged five, and sank 11,000 tons of shipping and damaged 48,000 tons.
