Social Security
A CHANGE OF HEART ? As recently as last year Mr. Holland, leader of the National Party, -was still a staunch opponent of Social Security. The “Ashburton Guardian” reported Mr. Holland as follows —“Mr. Holland went on to speak of Social Security as ‘Something for nothing,’ but it had gulled the people who never would get anything for nothing. It had destroyed the self-reliance, the spirit the pioneers brought with them.” Is this the same Mr. Holland who is responsible for the National Party’s declaration ou Social Security “Would the National Party reduce benefits or pensions? No! We believe firmly in the right of security and the relief of want . . .” These contrasting statements might represent a change of heart ... if it were not for the National Party's inability to think in terms other than cuts or no cuts. There lias been no deviation in the attitude of the Labour Party and its leader the Rt. Hon Petei Fraser. For a lifetime Peter Fraser has been fighting the conditions responsible for insecurity and povertv He and the men he leads have seeu the establishment of a new freedom the freedom from feur and w r ant. Peter Fraser will continue his fight for better conditions, better homes, better living standards for all. For Social Security and economic security—VOTE LABOUR AGAIN. —*
