Eighth Army Racing to Rescue

ONE OF MOST NOTABLE MARCHES IN HISTORY LONDON, Sept. 16. The Eighth Army’s advance continues. Its push to join up with the Fifth Army will possibly rank as one oi the most notable marches in military annals. The British United Press’s Algiers correspondent says that General Montgomery’s men, according to estimates at Allied Headquarters, are expected to be south of Agropoli and fighting in support of the Salerno forces by Friday, but headquarters warn against overoptimism in view of the possibility oi increasing opposition en route. The Eighth Army advanced 24 miles in the last 24 hours.
