Prunes Now a Stabilised Commodity
ALSO SECOND-HAND ROOFING IRON (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 36. The Price Tribunal has announced that prunes are now being dealt with as a commodity stabilised at the price level ruling on December 15, 1942. Arrangements have been made for the release through wholesale and retail channels of parcels of Californian prunes at prices representing a reduction of approximately lid per lb. The new prices have been made the subject of a price order issued to-day and the retail prices range from Is 3d per lb. to 13d per lb. according to the size of the mesh, while the wholesale prices range from 95s per cwt. to 68s 2d per cwt. according to the size of the mesh.
At recent auction sales second-hand roofing iron realised prices much in excess of its true value, states the Price Tribunal in a statement issued to-day, and a price order has been issued fixing the maximum prices which may hereafter be charged in any circumstances. These prices range from 4s for si’t. lengths to 8s 6d per 10ft. lengths.
