Gift Parcels From Zone D Total 8154
Zone D Committeo of the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council met in Palmerston North yesterday, the Mayor (Mr. A. E. Mansford) presiding. A statement from the Provincial Council gave particulars of the amounts raised by the different Zones in connection with the recent major appeal, and showing that Zone D (Palmerston North City and Kairanga County) had collected £2016 7s 5d in excess of its quota, and that Zone D had been the only one to do better than its quota. The statement covering the operations of the A.N.A. dance committee showed receipts for five months totalling £2489 11s 9d, as against expenses totalling £1371 8s 4d. The receipts for the A.N.A. Club from the beginning of April to the end of July totalled £S79 12s sd, being £3O 15s 6d in excess of expenditui'c. The statement of articles and parcels forwarded to the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council to date showed 2452 balaclavas, 1990 scarves, 2556 mittens, SI gloves, 709 socks, 137 pullovers and jerseys, 111. knee pads, hats and skull caps, 1970 hussifs, the total being 10,006. Gift parcels now total 8154, 950 of these being sent during the three months ending 9/9/13. Advice was received of the visit to Palmerston North of the Kiwi Concert Party on October 9. Mr. J. K. llardie stated he had the matter of billeting lhe members of the party already in hand. He added that the proceeds from the concert would be available for Zone D's next major appeal.
