Manawatu Boxing

At the annual meeting of the Manawatu Boxing Association last night, officers were elected as follow: Patron, Mr. A. E. Mansford; president, Mr. E. R. Wimsett; vice-presidents, Messrs U. Watchorn, J. Purves and E. J. Arnott; life members, Messrs J. Louisson and G. Watchorn; committee, Messrs G. Hastings, F. Chase, C. Warn, T. Ross, A. Anderson, L. Dalziell, W. Bigham, A. Fraser and P. H. Mummery; lion, treasurer, Mr. J. Purves; lion, solicitor. Mr. A. M. Ongley; hon. auditor, Mr. K. S. Glendinning; hon. secretary, Mr. D. H. Armstrong. Mr. J. Purves was elected a life j member in recognition of many years of service to boxing. A communication was received from the New Zealand Council intimating that the Auckland and Wellington Associations were being approached with the idea of each providing a team to meet in Palmerston North. It was decided to do all possible to encourage the meeting.
