Hospital Board

The Dannevirko Hospital Board, at its monthly meeting, had before it a report from its architects covering the cost of the recent alterations and additions to the hospital. The final figures as submitted by the contractors, placed the total cost at slightly below the contract price, £4980, and this, after expending approximately £33 on a bell system. The chairman (Mr. P. C. Smith) and the members considered this was very satisfactory and creditable to the architects and the contractors. In reply to Mr. W. Galloway, who asked what staff would be required for the new ward, the chairman said eight additional nurses were needed to work a night and day staff. There will be one of the popular “Melody” dances at the ballroom (behind the Palmerston North Opera House) tonight at 8 p.m. when a large attendance is expected. There will he, of course, the usual good supper and bright music.
