Popular factory Manager Farewelled

The popularity of Mr. and Mrs. L. Young was evidenced in no uncertain manner on Monday evening when a large gathering of the suppliers of the Wood-

ville Co-op. Dairy Co. and others interested in the dairying industry met to farewell them prior to their departure for the North. The. evening was spent in dancing, card playing, interspersed with items. At a suitable interval, Mr. I. A. B. Sinclair (chairman of the Woodville Co-op., called upon Mr. and Mrs. Young and asked them to accept on behalf of the AVoodville Dairy Co., a cheque as a small token of their esteem. Mr. Sinclair made eulogistic reference to the splendid services rendered by Mr. Young during the five years he had been manager of the company. Mr. Young had been the means of introducing many new improvements to the factory and also to the sale of cheese locally which had proved a financial benefit to the company, ill*. Sinclair expressed regret that Mr. Young, for health reasons, had had to leave the company. His leaving would not only be a loss to Woodville, but also to the industry as Mr. Young had bought a grocery business in Te Kuiti.

Mr. Heayns, president of the Wairarapa Factory Managers’ Association, made eulogistic reference to Mr. Young’s ability as a eheesemaker and also to his splendid chai-acterislics as a man and a friend. He asked Mi'. Young on behalf of the Factory Managers’ Association, to accept the gift of a fountain pen. Messrs R. G. Brown, president of the Manawatu Dairy Factory Managei's’ Association, Walker, Dairy Instructor for the district, Newton, of the National Dairy Co., J. G. Breckin, of Pahiatua, also spoke in glowing tei'ms of Mr. Young’s ability and integrity. All wished him every success in his new venture. Mrs. Young’s kindness and helpfulness was also much appieciated by all who were privileged to know her. Mr. Young feelingly returned thanks, expressing regret that his health had compelled him to leave the industry. Mr. and Mrs. Young were then accorded musical honoui's and cheered to the echo. The programme comprised Miss Lorna Whiteman, recitation; sketch by airs. Galbraith and aiiss Kirkpatrick; vocal items by air. Petterson, all of which were much enjoyed, airs. Harkness and Messi-s aicNeil and Prince provided music for the dancing, aiiss W. Watkins and air. T. Dodd winning the “Spot Waltz’’ competition. aiesdames Dunstal and Hayes and Alessi's Hares and Graham were winners of the progi*essive euchre. A sumptuous supper was served by airs. T. A. B. Sinclair and a willing band of helpers, air. R. C. Leach proved an excellent M.C. axid a vexy gathering concluded with thanks to all those responsible for its success.
