Armed Forces Appeal Board
The Armed Forces Appeal Board held a sitting in Palmerston North on Monday, Mr. G. A. Monk presiding. Associated with him were Messrs. A. Grigor and W. Board took place in Feilding on Tuesday and again yesterday when a number of appeals came up for review. Mr. A. G. Monk (chairman) presided and the other members were Messrs. W. Sutherland aud A. Wilson,, farmer; K. A. Cooper, baker; 11. J. Lower, dairy farmer; W. S. Jamieson, dairy farm hand; A. F. Shapleski, farm manager; M. L. Brown, farmer; P. N. Wigglesworth, farm hand; H. B. Buchanan, farm manager; P. A. Strawbridge, motor mechanic; L. H. B. Boucher, farm hand; C. A. Smith, sheep farmer; O. Gardner, sharemilker; C. A. Elliott, farmer; T. A. E. Henaghan, sheep farmer; G. E. Williams, sheep farmer; C. J. Dunn, sheep farmer; J. D. Sliortall, farm hand; W. G. Pedley, nurseryman and topdresser; C. A. Stratford, farmer; E. S. Wilson, farmer; C. F. Viles, sheep farmer; I. Tho chairman commented that the Cowan family had rendered wonderful service and their war effort was particularly outstanding. Several farms were being carried on by an elderly man aud four sons were serving overseas, while another had recently gone overseas. He had now only one son to assist him. Appeals on behalf of G. E. Mitchell, farm hand, and S. R. Barrow, farm hand, were withdrawn by leave.
