Last week a parly was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Goodman, when some thirty young- folk gathered to honour Gnr. C. B. Smedley. The evening was pleasantly spent in games, competitions, community singing and dancing to music supplied by Mr. Goodman on the accordion. The toast to the guest ofj honour, coupled with Gnr. Moates, who also had special leave, was proposed by Mr. Goodman. On returning thanks for the enjoyable evening, Gnr. Smedley proposed a toast to Mr. and Mrs. Goodman. The hall was crowded with a happy throng of dancers when the members of the Awahuri branch of the W.W.S.A. held a dance, the proceeds of which were in aid of the Emergency Ambulance for Feilding. In the supper room, lion-danc-ers spent an enjoyable time playing progressive euchre. Prior to the supper adjournment, members who had passed their first-aid, home nursing and transport examinations, assembled on the stage to receive their respective certificates. The president, Mrs. A. I-I. Goodman explained what the auxiliary members had done during their first twelve months of existence. She also expressed thanks to the instructors and congratulated the members who had passed their examination. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing to a professional orchestra, Mr. A. H. Last Saturday evening, a complimentary evening was held for Pte. Harold Salt. Mr. A. H. Goodman acted as M.C. He said that Allan’s present would be forwarded to him. On beharf of the R.S.A., Mr. Redmayne conveyed good wishes. Musical honours were accorded tho guests.
