Girls’ High School Parents’ Association

The annual meeting of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School Parents’ Association was held in the Assitubiy hall preceded by a short concert piesented by third and fourth form girls which was much appreciated. Mr. T. P. Hart was in the chair and nh.iut to members were present. Mr. Hart and Miss E. E. Stephens (principal) welcomed all new members and urgjd that all parents show their interest in the school and give it support by joining the Association. The annual report ami balance-sheet were received and adopted and the election of officers resulted: Chairman, Air. T. P. Hart; secretary, Airs. A. E. R. Joblin; committee, Alesdames C. Howes, O. Ratcliffe, W. Pascoe, O. Doel, L. Dewar, J. Cribb, \V, Bigham, F. Hodges, J. AI. Pearson, G. C. Petersen, T. P. Hart and R. Spencer, Messrs R. Joblin, Clark, Burr, Doel, Owen, J. Cribb, Cornish, and R. Spencer. It was agreed to make u donation to Mr. Spencer for his valued services to the Association. Suggestions were received for expenditure during the coming year. Supper and a short sociaL function brought an enjoyable evening to a close. Tho chairman, in his repor.t, stated that despite many difficulties, the Association carried oil most successfully, and the results of its efforts, both from the point of view of fostering closer co-operation between tho parent and the school, and also from the financial point of view had been most encouraging. The gala day had been an unqualified success under the capable leadership of Mesdames Petersen and Doel. Thunks were due to the committee, the men who helped, Airs. Joblin (secretary), Mr. Spencer and the City Silver Band. The financial statement disclosed a satisfactory position.
