Tokio Admits Losses of Destroyers and Transports
(Received Tuesday, 1 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 8. An official Tokio announcement broadcast by the Berlin radio reports the loss of seven Japanese warships and seven planes in the New Guinea-Solo-mons areas between January 16 and March 5. Tokio identified the ships as two destroyers and five transports, but claimed that 113 Allied aircraft were destroyed in the air and 11 on the ground, while four Allied submarines were sunk in the same areas and during the same period.
