At the intersection of St. Aubyn Street the horse slipped on the asphalt and threw its rider, Thomas Stubbs, of Texas. The horse, which was owned by Mr. D. McKcowan, Hastings, was subsequently hit by a truck, driven by John 11. E. Beck, of Napier, and suffered a broken front leg. It was later shot by Mr. IT. R. Green, of the Borough Traffic Department. The rider of the horse suffered from bruises and was badly shaken. He was carried into a nearby house and was attended by a doctor, who ordered him to the Memorial Hospital.
