Pigs, Poultry and Produce

The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report that a smaller entry of pigs than usual was offered at their weekly sale. Porkers were in short supply resulting in spirited competition for the few lines offered; J sales were from £2 17s to £3 ss. There i was a fair entry of store pigs and a I total clearance was made at satisfactory rates. Another largo quantity of poultry was offered, and with the exception of pullets and fat ta?jle birds j prices were somewhat easier. The f usual supply of fruit and produce was j disposed of at the undermentioned ] rates:— I Pigs: Porkers £2 17s to £3 ss, forward stores 37s to £2 4s, slips 25s Od to 295, best weaners £1 to £1 Os, small 10s Gd to 18s. I Poultry: Heavy hens 4s 9d to 5s 9d each, yearling hens 4s 7d to Os Gd each, J medium hens 2s 8d to 3s 6d each, light Is to 2s each, heavy cockerels 5s to Os each, medium 2s to 4s each, young ! ducks 6s 6d to 10s 6d each, drakes 2s 1 Gd to 4s each, old ducks Is Gd to 2s Od j each, forward pullets 13s Od to 14s Od each, medium pullets 8s 6d to 10s each.
