Mrs. W. H. Hall, Langstone Avenue, is visiting Hawke’s Bay. Mrs. A. G. Lawson, Langstone Avenue, who has been visiting Tara naki, has returned to Palmerston North. Mrs. L. Wood, of Palmerston North is acting as a referee at the Southern Hawke’s Bay Croquet Association’s tournament at Dannevirfcc. When she reaches her 18th birthday on April 21st, 1944, Princess Elizabeth, the heir-presumptive to the British Throne, must set up her own establishment and live there until either her marriage or her father’s death, says an overseas exchange. Royal tradition demands her departure from Buckingham Palace, and precedent suggests that she may make her home in St. James’s Palace. During the year Princess Elizabeth will be voted an annuity of £6OOO, and when she comes of age, it will be increased to £35,000. The young people who will form her household are already in training, in cooking, housecraft, sewing, forestry, gardening, and other forms of work.
