Well Over the Century

Active and very alert, Mrs. Isabella Bain Munro, of Sixth Avenue, Tauranga, celebrated her 101st birthday last week. She was born at Lossiemouth, Scotland, and after her marriage to the late Mr. William Munro, a ship’s officer, she lived in Scotland and London for some years before coming to New Zealand in 1903. Mr. Munro established a shipwright business in Auckland, and they lived at Ponsonby and Onehunga. After Mr. Munro retired, they moved to Lake Rotoiti. Mrs. Munro still does a certain amount of housework in the house of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Munro, of Tauranga. Mr. Munro died twenty-seven years ago.
