Maoris And Home Guard Feelings of frustration, said to be general among the Maori people concerning Home Guard activities, were ventilated at a meeting of Tuhoe and Ngati Awu people held at Ruatoki. The meeting, which was under the chairmanship of Sir Apirana Ngata, M.P. for Eastern Maori, attracted a, large attendance of Maoris.
