Increase in CerebroSpinal Meningitis
Per Preae Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 17. Cerebro-spiual meningitis, of which there have been always a few isolated cases for mauy months, has shown a definite increase in tho last few weeks according to a statement to-day by the Medical Officer of Health in Wellington (Dr. Hubert Smith). He emphasised, however, that there was no need for the public to become unduly alarmed. The increase was more or less general throughout, the Dominion, but in the last week Wellington seemed to have had rather more cases than other centres. It had not been possible to trace the spread of contacts. A certain number of people all the time were carrying germs in their throats and it was desirable to keep children awp.y from crowded places.
