Russian Pilots’ Exploits

ENEMY PLANES RAMMED (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 19. The exploit of six Russian planes which routed 28 Germans with heavy loss to the enemy is described by the Moscow radio. The six planes, it is stated, met a group of German planes consisting of 15 heavy German bombers and five Messerschmitt-109’s on the Karelian front. In spite of the numerical superiority of the enemy, the Russians attacked,* and three of the enemy planes were destroyed, one of them being rammed. The enemy received reinforcements of eight Messer-schmitt-109 ’s. The Russian pilots rammed two further Messerschmitt109’s, and after 20 minutes' fighting, the enemy planes fled. All the Russian planes returned to their aerodrome, one with a damaged wing with which the pilot rammed an enemy machine. A description of another notable exploit comes from tho Leningrad front. A few days ago, Russian planes carried out a successful raid on an enemy aerodrome. Nine German planes were destroyed, and about ten were damaged on the ground. Two were shot down in aerial combat over the aerodrome.
