Men Return to Work
AUCKLAND CITY ABATTOIR# Per Prc&K Aseociation. AUCKLAND, Jan. 96. Complying with the order of th’O Minister of National Service, the Hoiu R. Semple, to return to work to-day # 60 employees of the city abattoir re* sumed work this morning. The men held a meeting at 7.30 o’clock. Delegates subsequently met the management and reported back to the men. Work was resumed at 8.25. The manager stated later that the dispute had been satisfactorily settled. The Minister of Labour, the Hou« P. C. Webb, hag left Wellington tot Auckland. His visit is understood in be associated with vario l . * aspects odf, unrest in some industrial labour circles, in the city. Mr. Webb expressed delight that tui men had resumed work, and he hoped! that common sense would prevail, no? only in this industry but throughout the Dominion. If workers in any industry had complaints to ventilate, he said, the Government would be pleased to meet them at any time. Ample machinery was provided for settling 4 any problems that arose, and there was no necessity for direct action. “The law must be complied with,” he declaerd. * 4 Any violation of the law will meet with 100 per cent opposition.”
