Palmerston North Girl Guides’ Association

Mrs. G. A. Eliott (District Commissioner) presided over tho monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Girl Guide Association held yesterday, there being a good attendance. Tentative [plans were made for the annual swimming sports in February and Brownie revels in March. On December 14 Guides and Brownies will attend a “toy" service at All Saints' Church, the toys being a gift to the children of the district through the District Nurse. A report of the Shield competition was presented, it being agreed that the fixture had been a great success and congratulations were extended to Feilding and Takaro, joint winners. Correspondence was before the meeting I from Mrs. Stafford (nee Miss Agnes Gray) in appreciation of flowers sent on her wedding day; from Mr. J. R. Hardie, secretary A.N.A. Club, re servicing tho club in February. Mrs. E. W. Mills (Assistant Commissioner) brought up the question of Britain's need for supplies of ergot, circulars from headquarters being before tho meeting with particulars. It i was agreed to ask the Guides to 1 encourage their companies to assist in j this national service. | Mrs. Mills reported having paid a j v isit to Shannon Company with Mrs. Eliott, where Guides were very keen. Sho intimatod ways and means of giving help in training, a week-end camp at Easter for patrol leaders, being one suggestion.
