NO MILITARY CAMP IN FEILDING
Grounds Said to be Unsuitable
The military authorities have reached a decision not to hold a camp for Territorials in Feilding. Over the week-end the following letter was received by the secretary (Miss D. Miller) of the ±'eilding Agricultural and Pastoral Association from Central Military District Headquarters, Wellington: “With reference to your letter of 2Sth ultimo, in connection with proposed occupation of Feilding racecourse for camping purposes, it has now been decided, however, that after a recent inspection of thG ground by the writer, the racecourse was unsuitable for the purpose of training troops as was contemplated. Please convey to the members of your committee thanks of this department for tho manner in w r hich they were prepared to meet us in respect of accommodation required, and regrets that circumstances over which we had no control preclude occupation of the grounds for a lengthy period by the troops. Again thanking you.’'
