Home Guard Week-end Activities

The conference of group directors of the Wellington district was held in the Manawatu Racing Cluu s buildings on Saturday, November 8. Those present wore the district director, Colonel R. St. John Beere, D. 5.0., Lieut.-Colonels R. D. Hardie, D.S.O. (Wanganui), C. Y. Ciochetto, M.C., M.M. (Palmerston North), R. F. Gambrill, V.D. (Gisborne), W. R. Birch, M.C. (Masterton), L. W. Delph, M.C. (New Plymouth), T. L. Gibbs, V.D. (Stratford), Majors Peel (Napier) and McCrae-Fittal (Hawera), Captains H. J. L. Kendall, G. 5.0.3 Web lington district, C. H. G. Joplin, M.C., F. C. Daniels and F. Gatloy. On Sunday morning the members of the conference visited the Home Guard camp at Ashhurst. Colonel R. St. J. Beere took the salute at a march past at the conclusion of the camp. In addition to the officers and n.c.os. who had spent the week-end at Ashhursl a fairly large number of other guardsmen were provided with transport on Sunday by members of the transport sections of the W.W.S.A. and E.P.S.
