GERMAN PROPAGANDA WRITES OFF THE A.I.F.

(Rec. 2. 12.45) MELBOURNE, Sept. 1. The Department of Information to-day rebroadcast a statement by the Berlin radio that 349,000 out of 372,000 Australian soldiers had been killed, wounded, or sent back home. The department commented: “Every member of the A.I.F. abroad must have been killed, wounded, or taken prisoner three times. The Ark Royal was sunk three times in three separate statements, but the A.I.F. has been wiped out three times in one broadcast.”
