Foxton Beach

COMPLAINTS ABOUT STOCK The monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held in Palmerston North yesterday, Mr. J. A. Nash prosiding. There were also present Messrs M. E. Perreau, W, E. Barber, W. B. Hoperoft, H. Osborne, E. J. Bowater and <S. J. Dewe. The Beach Improvement Society wrote drawing attention to complaints [about wandering and tethered stock, and it was decided to investigate the board’s powers in dealing with this! matter The society also drew attention to the state of the roads, and Mr. Perreau said that the wet weather had had a detrimental effect on these. It was decided to reply stating that the roads would be given attention as soon as the weather improved. The pilot (Captain J. Bold) reported that there had been one departure in the course of the month. The river carried 4 ‘good” water. All gear was in good order. The report was received. A balance of £7 16s 5d of income over expenditure was shown in the working account for August. On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to allow no further subdivision of sections without the consent of the board. j: Mr. Perreau stated that the season ; for camping was approaching and suggested that tho pilot be asked to look • after the board’s interests at the camp , site. It was left to the local committee to discuss tho subject with the pilot, , with power to act.
