War-service Objectors

Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Sept. 2. Drastic measures for dealing with conscientious objectors were embodied in recommendations adopted by the executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association for forwarding to the Dominion Council. In the case of persons in Government and local-body employment whoso appeals were upheld on the ground of objection to engaging in warfare, the committee recomemnded that they be dismissed and debarred from employment of a similar nature for all time; the rate of payment for any alternative employment directed by the Alinister of National Service to ho not greater than that of a private soldier; also that all objectors be deprived for all time of civil and civic rights aud any benefits which might accrue to them under social security.
