Another case of cerebro-spinal meningitis from the city area was admitted to the Auckland Hospital today, making a total of 12 in the*, institution. No further deaths have occurred. Hospital admissions have also been suddenly swelled through the rapid development of measles at the l’apakura military camp, the number of soldiers admitted up to to-night being 61. There are also 12 Papakura soldiers in hospital suffering from mumps. As a result of the deaths from meningitis in Auckland and the arrival of measles cases from a military camp, the Hospital Board proposes t* take over the Ellerslie racecourse buildings, also the Teachers’ Training College, to relieve overcrowding at the Auckland Hospital and enable the meningitis cases to be treated there.
