Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 1,

“Residents of New Zealand who derive income from the United Kingdom arc not liable for New Zealand income tax on such income provided it is already borne in the United Kingdom income tax,” stated the Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash, to-day. “Such income is, however, liable for both Social Security charge and National Security tax.

“The British authorities have decided that, for purposes Of Dominion inQpnie tax relief under the Finance Act 1920 (United Kingdom), any person resident in New Zealand who has paid

Social Security charge on income from the United Kingdom may lodge a claim to the British authorities for Dominion income-tax relief. It is also believed that this decision applies to the payment of National Security tax.”
