Notes of the Day

Only one building permit was issued in Feilding during August and this represented work valued at £ll3O.

This evening in the Feilding Borough Council Chambers a meeting of members of the Emergency Precautions {Scheme will be held.

Cabled advice has been received by Mr. J. Johnson, of Gray Street, .Feilding, that his son, Leading-Aircraftman Cyril Johnson, had arrived in Canada.

I Sunday’s sunshine and that of yesterjday combined to stir plant life into activity and these being the two days producing the first real sunshine for a lengthy period, contributed to a real change in the outlook. Grass lying dormant for so long is now coming away vigorously and signs of spring are manifest on every hand. Mr. and Mrs. J. Cook, of Feilding, have received a cablegram from their daughter-in-law, in Glasgow', stating that their son, Private Cook, is a prisoner of war in Germany. The message relieves anxiety for the parents, for in May last they were notified that their son was missing, and since then had no knowledge of what was his fate.
