A Difficult Year

KONENT CO-OP DAIRY COMPANY 23rd ANNAUL MEETING There was a smaller attendance of suppliers and shareholders than usual at the 23rd annual meeting of the Ivonini Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., hold on Monday in the Konini Public Hall. At tho commencement of the proceedings Mr. D. M. Connor made feeling reference to the passing of Miss Enid Taylor who had been connected with the company for a number of years. The assembly stood in silence as a marjc of respect. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet the chairman, Air. W. D. Harris, stated that although tho year had been difficult in many ways the ba’ancc sheet showed a satisfactory position. Thanks was duo to the British Navy and Mercantile Marino for making it possible for our produce to reach its destination. Considering the reduced supply when the final payment was made tho total -would equal last years, as there would be no farthing per pound reduction for share capital and the season had been a favourable one. Tho outstanding feature of the season had been the transfer from our supply, milk for cheese manufacture and it was estimated that between COO and 700 tons of cheese would be made from tho milk so diverted. Tho hope was expressed that those suppliers would be welcomed back by this time next' year. Manufacturing costs had risen by .37d per lb., brought about by reduced tonnage and tho Government had promised compensation for such increases. The manager and staff were congratulated on maintaining a high average grade (944 approx.) which carried a premium of 1-Sd. per lb. and such was earned by the major portion of the output'. Reference was made to a member of the staff, Mr. Ed. Taj’lor, who was going overseas, and to Mr. C. Martin who was taking up farming after being with tho company for 13 years. The retiring directors, Messrs. A. S. Clulow and A. H. Ellmers -were re-elected unopposed, and Mr. S. C. Hogg Was re-elected auditor. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr. W. D.
