Lucinsky appeared before the committee to admit having been warned once, but contended the referee had made a mistake the second time. He had been surprised when the referee told him to go off. Questioned by the chairman, Lucinsky said that when another player used fists on him, what was he to do? Mr. Ongley: Is that your idea of football? ‘ Lucinsky: In a sense. Air. Ongley: In spite of the fact that a boy was suspended last week for five years? Did that have no effect on you? Two committeemen who saw the game said they had nothing to say in favour of the player.
The committee decided to suspend Lucinskv for the rest of the season. “The union regrets it lias to take this stand,’’ Mr. Ongley told Lucinsky “Warnings are going out all the time. Our job is not to keep boys out of football, but this sort of thing has to be controlled somehow.” Tho committee commented on the excellent game played by the Bush third grade team which played Manawatu thirds last Saturday and jvvon 29—8.
