Mrs. J. Sandman, of Dawson Street, Pahiatua, has returned homo after a holiday spent in the north. Mr. and Mrs. P. Lawry, of Tui Street, are spending tho week in Christchurch where they intended seeing the Grand National. Mr. J. J. Welsh, of Kaikariki, Hukanui, is a patient in the Pahiatua Public Hospital, suffering from a broken leg, and his many friends wish him a speedy recovery. Private W. Brightwell, who was invalided home, is on a visit to Pahiatua. His many friends were pleased to have tho pleasure of renewing acquaintance. News has arrived that Pilot Officer Stuart W. S. Beedie is missing a a result of air operations. His father is Dr. John Beedie, acting-superintendent of the Dannovirke Public Hospital. Stuart, before he enlisted with the R.N.A.F., was a bank clerk at the Pahiatua branch of the bank of New South Wales.
