Although Whirr and Erination were in front for part of the journey Atsral Flame set most of the pace in the Grand National Steeplechase and ho won decisively from. Dozie Boy, Slayer and Ballybrit. Bridegroom was prominent until his condition gave out and Chat, with well over half tho distance covered, was unlucky in losing her rider at the stand double. Up to that stage she had been going particularly well. Erination went to the front after the post and rails and he was well clear of Astral Flame and Whirr, and with' a mile and three quarters to cover he was four length ahead of Ashral Flame j and Chat, Dozie Boy and Ballybrit. Astral Flame had regained the lead i going to Cutts’ but he lost ground at I tho Kennels Double and Ballybrit out- j jumped him. Astral Flame nearly came 1 to grief two fences from homo but ho 1 recovered "well and went on to win well four or five length in front of Dozie Boy.
