Patriotic Efforts in City

SEVERAL OFFERS OF HELP Mr. A. E. Mansford presided over yesterday's meeting of Zone D (Palmerston North) Patriotic Committee. Correspondence was received from the Junior National Party Club asking the committee’s permission for the dub to devote the net jiroceeds of a dance to be held shortly to comforts for prisoners of war.—Permission granted. A deputation, consisting of Messrs. F. Cousins, S. Bradficld, J. Emmett and T. Rauford, asked the committee's support of a musical revue which it was hoped to produce about next November for patriotic purposes. It was stated that the script and musical score, as well as the theme, were original and of high merit and warranted tho support of tho committee. Mr. Mansford said that tho committee was pleased to accept the proposal and it was decided that a committee be formed with a view to helping in the production. Mr. Mansford mentioned that Mr. F. Hubbard had informed him of the desire of the children of the Intermediate School to stage a concert for patriotic funds. It was agreed to allow such a concert to take place. The Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council wrote inquiring if the committee would be prepared to accept and exhibit in Palmerston North pictures by New Zealand artists. It was decided to refer the matter to the Palmerston North Art Society and ask its views on the practicability of such an exhibition. Following is a statement of articles and parcels forwarded to the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council from Zone D since June 5, 1941: —Balaclavas 78, scarves 70 and mittens 102.
