Secondary Schools Stage Drama Festival
ONE-ACT PLAYS DRAW APPRECIATIVE AUDIENCE
With the twofold object of helping along the dramatic art in secondary schools and raising a fund to send parcels to members of the armed forces overseas, tho Palmerston North Little Theatre Society inaugurated a drama festival, and the invitation to participate was responded to by six schools, namely, Palmerston North Boys’ High School, Palmerston North Technical High School, Marist Bros. High School, Feilding Agricultural High School, Woodville District High School and Horowhenua College at Levin. The first three schools in the above list presented their plays to a capacity houso in the Littlet Theatre last evening, and the performances were all of a very high standard. To-night tho three schools from outside the city will provide the programme and another enjoyable evening is promised. Those taking part in the plays last night were as follows:
Marist Bros.: Bernard Devine, John Borns, Thomas Kelliher and Leon White.
Technical: Margaret Macaiister, Patricia Olsen, Eileen Williams, Audrey Jeffree, Patricia Seel and Connie Wood. Boys’ High School: M. Oliver, G. Lee, D. Dale, D. Hope, P. Stitchbury, Z. Bartlett and O. Smali.
There were interludes by a string sextette from the Boys’ High School, a violin solo by B. Hehir and a chorale by tho Marist Bros, boys’ choir.
The Little Theatre Society is to be commended on this innovation and the success which is attending their effort. To-night's performances will bring new talent to the city.
