Silk Stocking Era Nearing Its End

The New York Sun’s financial editor says shouting by Washington officials on the prospect of inflation and the sharp spur given by embargoes on silk is in all truth kindling inflation.
It is reported that the phenomenal rush to all store counters for silk stockings is now' spreading to other goods. In New York enormous queues are forming at all the stores throughout the day all this week, necessitating limiting sales to three pairs per person. Already prices have risen steeply. Experts are freely predicting that the stocking era is nearing its end.
