Rearguard Action
One of the first rules of sound military strategy is adequate protection for the rear. A Waipukurau Home Guardsman on traffic control duty at a crossroads on Sunday caused amusement by demonstrating this in an unconventional manner. With a chill breeze at his back, he had lit a fire and stood proudly in front of it, his ‘ 1 rear ’ ’ comfortably and, adequately protected.
