(From Our Own. Correspondent.) Owing to rough tweather not many golfers were out on Saturday. Mrs. Wither won the ladies’ competition and Mr. Stewart handed in the best card fot the meu and also retained the Strickland button when challenged by D. Old. Next Saturday the men will play a Bennett bogey competition and the following is the draw: —R. Hitchman and J. Stewart, D. French and A. Smith, D. Dallison and E. Woollams, J. Withor and J. Old, D. Old and D. Blue, B. Stewart and I. McLean, M. McLean and C. Corpc, N. Short and F. Ackerman. The draw for the Rose Bowl and Etna Cup competition to be played by the ladies is as follows:—Mrs. Wither and Mrs. McCombie, Mrs. Stewart and Miss N. Old, Miss R. Stewart and Mrs. D. Old, Miss J. Stewart and Mrs. Dallison, Miss Coggin and Miss Williamson, Mrs. Short and Mrs. Corpe, Miss Stephens and Mrs. Blue. All roads led to “Tawera” on Saturday evening when a crowd of young people welcomed home Mr. and Mrs. Ken Green from their ‘‘honeymoon” trip. Quantities of flowers wore used in the adormhent of tho hall and various rooms. Dancing was the order of the evening and Mr. Cyril Whiteman contributed scotch songs. After supper served by the ladies, Mr. B. Short took the opportunity on behalf of those present, to thank Mr. and Mrs. Green for their hospitality. Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Short have returned home from a prolonged stay in Taranaki. Private G. Coggin and Private T. B. French spent week-end leave from Trentham at their respective homes. Mr. and Mrs. C. Eames have returned homo after an enjoyable holiday spent in the north. Mr. A. J. Palmer, of Roto Manu, who has been staying in Tangimoana, is tho guest of Mr. and Mrs. D. Old.
