Obituary
MRS. O. A. BIEER3 With the passing of Mrs. Edith May Bierre, wife of Mr. Carl A. Bierre, of Featherston Street, on Friday, death has removed one who had a particularly wido circle of friends in Palmerston North. Mrs. Bierre had a bright and happy disposition and her generous heart found expression in kindly services in many directions. She was a devoted member of the United Guild and was greatly missed from the guild rooms when sho first became ill some six months or so ago. In addition to being a member of the United Guild, Mrs. Bierre was a member, also, of the Townswomen’s Guild and of the League of Mothers. She belonged to the Presbyterian Church. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Sinclair, of Palmerston North, she was born at Wainui-o-mata, coming to Terrace End with them as a young child. Mr. Sinclair will be remembered by many older residents as a wellknown civil engineer, in which capacity he served the Pohangina County Council for a lengthy period. Mrs. Bierre resided in Palmerston North from the time of her arrival here, with the exception of a period from 1917 until 1931, when she lived in Wellington. She leaves one son, Mr. Gordon Grace, a member of a coastal battery hear Wellington, who is a son by a former marriage. Surviving brothers and a sister are Messrs. N. H. Sinclair (Palmerston North), Hugh Sinclair (Plimmerton) and Mrs. J. Louisson (Palmerston North). As a tribute to a greatly respected member, representatives of the United Guild attended the service at the residence on Sunday', prior to the funeral, and also forwarded a floral expression of their regard.
