Pampus Grass

HAS A PLACE ON EVERY FARM “The proof of the pudding is in the eating," remarked Alec. McClean, wellknown pioneer farmer with selected pampas grass when questioned regarding recent developments and results. “For 12 years,’’ he said, “1 have not made any hay or ensilage or grown any crops. I have relied entirely on my pampas and it has answered ever requirement. My carrying capacity has been greater, my factory returns more consistent, and the health of my stock better than on probably 99 per cent, of the farms in New Zealand." Much interest has been taken in pampas grass as a fodder since the early days of Alec. McClean’s tests on his farm at Waitakaruru, and its widespread and successful use in many parts of New Zealand, and in all types of soil, is a source of great satisfaction to him.
