Monthly Intercession Services in Christchurch

GOVERNOR-GENERAL ASKED TO TAKE PART Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 8. Civic servites of intercession for peace will be held in Christchurch each month, the Mayor (Mr. E. H. Andrews, announced to-day after a conference of representatives of the city churches. Mr. Andrews said the services would be held in the Civic Theatre on the first Sunday in each month. It was proposed to hold the first on August 3 and to invite the Governor-General and Archbishop West-Watson to give addresses. The services, the Mayor explained, would be undenominational and all churches of the city were co-operating. They would be limited to about an hour and the addresses would necessarily be brief. Hymn sheets would be printed for the benefit of the public.
